Instructional Design & Learning Technology Workshop

Welcome to the Camp CLOE case story! Camp CLOE was an intensive training event held from May 4-9, at the University of Waterloo’s FLEX (Flexible Learning EXperience) Lab. The workshop featured learning communities, instructional design, accessibility, project management, evaluation and technology issues. Attendees acquired knowledge on how to build highly interactive, learner-centred, learning objects. Participants included all but one CLOE member (Windsor) and included all other Ontario universities except Carleton, which hopes to soon become a member. There were a total of sixteen universities and one college (Seneca) represented at the event.

CLOE is now involved in a project, eduSourceCanada, which requires community building while developing learning objects. During the week, issues of community building were explored in a number of different ways to help strengthen each participant's ability in working with members of other institutions. Teleconferences and video-conferences were used with participants and their content specialists at their home institutions during the week. Also, some universities, like U.O.I.T., the University of Ottawa, and Guelph brought their content specialists with them as participants.
